ONAK by Foldboys

ONAK is a brand of Foldboys Tim and Frederik, an Antwerp-based duo of origami artists. Okay, anyone can fold a boat from paper. But Tim and Frederik go nextlevel with that Japanese art of folding. They fold large, unwieldy products like a classic canoe into innovative take-along solutions like the ONAK. This is how they have been creating life-size foldable design products for over 20 years: from design to production.

Easy to carry, easy to store

It takes up little space and is easy to handle. Your ONAK can always go with you: on foot, by bike, on the train, on the bus, in the car and on the plane.

Setting up is child's play

Unfolding a canoe and launching it? A simple pulley system secures the entire structure of your ONAK with tension straps. It takes hardly any physical effort and in a couple of minutes it’s done. The straps stay constantly connected: you don’t even have to figure out which buckle fits where. Everything is simple and clear.

Our success story has been unfolding since 2016

In 2016, ONAK was one of the first companies to launch a folding canoe.  With captains Frederik and Tim on board they paddle towards a folding future fom the home port of Antwerp, Belgium.

OnaCurv / OnaCore

Since the start, Onak has been searching for an alternative, eco-friendly material that meets all the requirements of high-end canoes. After months of research and product development, our experts arrived at a suitable material: a light, inflexible and recyclable polymer. The ideal component for canoes, in other words. On this basis, they developed the OnaCurv (Honeycomb-Curv™) that is now used for the ONAK-X. For Bato, ONAK-Y and Kajak we selected another similar type of the same polymer family: the OnaCore, core structured panels. Both materials have a defining impact on design, construction and manufacturing.
